Nominator Statement
Holly Moores performance of her original work Under the Cobblestones, the Beach was the closing number and highlight of her album launch for Flood. The performance featured all members of the ensemble, creating space for each performer to express their improvisational identity. The performance was inspired and creative, with Moore leading the ensemble with cues, both musical and visual. It was a particularly memorable performance and deserving of the performance of the year award.
'Under the cobblestones, the Beach' takes the listener on a journey, swelling into a fantastic conclusion and crescendo before dying down. The performances by all are tremendous, solos are a perfect contrast to the cyclic melody that is woven throughout the improvised sections.
