Nominator Statement
Undulate is a deeply introspective solo piano composition that captures the fluid, ever-changing nature of creativity and life. Composed in a single, uninterrupted take at the composers piano for the Hush Foundations *Connected* album, this piece reflects a profound connection to self, to the nervous system, and to the instrument as an extension of ones own creative expression. In its simplicity and rawness, "Undulate" reveals the intimate process of introspection, capturing a moment of deep personal reflection that resonates universally.

The piece unfolds with a sense of ebb and flow, mirroring the undulating rhythm of human experience. Its gentle, rhythmic shifts create a sense of continuity, while the harmonic choices reflect both the subtle tensions and the resolution found within introspection. The complexity of Undulate lies not in its technical intricacies but in the emotional depth conveyed through the pianos voiceeach note carefully chosen to mirror the composer's internal dialogue.

The performance quality of Undulate is one of quiet intensity, demanding from the pianist both precision and sensitivity. The piece translates seamlessly to a live setting, where its contemplative nature allows for an intimate, personal experience for the performer and listener alike. It offers a rare window into the creative process, inviting the audience to reflect on their own connection to self and creativity.

Undulate speaks to the universal experience of personal growth, the undulating rhythm of lifes challenges and triumphs, and the intimate dialogue between creator and instrument. Its relevance lies in the ability to connect with the listener on a deeply personal level, offering a moment of stillness and reflection amid the ebb and flow of modern life. It is a testament to the power of music to articulate the ineffable, inviting each listener into a shared, intimate experience of creativity and self-awareness.
