Composer Nick Calligeros writes emotive music at the intersection of jazz, electronic and ambient music. Through his project SOFT SPOT, Calligeros works with some of Australia's finest young jazz instrumentalists and the piece Everything is Everything VI is a perfect encapsulation of the bands' singular voice. Influenced by indie-rock, modern electronica and Australian jazz luminaries such as Phil Slater, Calligeros builds from solo trumpet to sparse band interplay before rising to an almighty post-rock inspired outro. Nick Calligeros and SOFT SPOT are among a growing scene of forward looking young jazz musicians, pushing Australian jazz in exciting new directions.
