The Luminary Awards seek to honour individuals and organisations who, through sustained contribution (demonstrated over a period 3-5 years prior), have impacted their communities on a state or territory level through visionary leadership, fearless trailblazing, high-level artistic practice, and championing of Australian repertoire. Nominations for individuals should demonstrate a program of activities or a range of projects rather than (for example) the recording and release of a single album. Nominations for a single work or project should be made in the Work of the Year or Excellence categories.

The Perth International Jazz Festival has demonstrated a high level of sustained growth between 2020 and 2024. Beginning as a 3-day festival that was able to present a festival to live audiences in 2020, the Perth International Jazz Festival has grown into a multi weekend event. The festivals reach positively impacts communities through regional activation, commissioning programs and innovative programming, connecting audiences with the very best jazz music from Australia and around the world. The small and driven team behind the Perth International Jazz Festival have consistently demonstrated dedicated, dynamic artistic leadership. They continue to collaborate with organisations all over the country and have promoted the festival into becoming one of the leading national jazz festivals.

The Perth International Jazz Festival brings the state of Western Australia to a national and international audience. Through collaboration with local, interstate and international organisations, the festival champions elite Australian repertoire and musicians, placing them alongside their international counterparts. The Perth International Jazz Festival provides an opportunity for the state of Western Australia to connect with a local and national audience while functioning as a musical showcase for the state of Western Australia that places them in the ranks of other leading jazz festivals globally.

The nomination is for a range of activities of the five years prior to the award. It understood that many organisations and artists have careers extending over many decades but in the interests of finding common assessable ground for our panels, we ask that your submission focuses on the past 3-5 years of activity only.

The nominee was not the winner of this category in the previous three years

I permit APRA AMCOS and the Australian Music Centre, and any person APRA AMCOS or the Australian Music Centre authorises, to perform the entry in and as part of the Art Music Awards ceremony if deemed appropriate, and to record it for those purposes and for the purposes of communication to the public or promotional use. I agree to allow APRA AMCOS’ and the Australian Music Centre's use of audio and video in relation to the nomination package for the Art Music Awards for promotional purposes.
