NOMINATION: Luminary - State and Territory
The Luminary Awards seek to honour individuals and organisations who, through sustained contribution (demonstrated over a period 3-5 years prior), have impacted their communities on a state or territory level through visionary leadership, fearless trailblazing, high-level artistic practice, and championing of Australian repertoire.
Nominations for individuals should demonstrate a program of activities or a range of projects rather than (for example) the recording and release of a single album. Nominations for a single work or project should be made in the Work of the Year or Excellence categories.
If you believe you are nominated in the wrong category or the details of your nomination to be incorrect, please contact the AMC via email at awards@australianmusiccentre.com.au before proceeding with the nomination.

Nominator Statement
Tenth Muse Initiative (TMI) is a Boorloo/Perth based collective founded at the end of 2019 and exists to transform classical music and opera by championing diverse stories, creators, and performers while fostering accessible pathways into the industry. TMI is led by Hannah Lee Tungate who is a creative producer, soprano, and changemaker championing marginalised composers through innovative projects and advocacy. As founder of Tenth Muse Initiative, Hannah curates performances spotlighting underrepresented voices and emerging creatives. Through the Women Composers Project, her advocacy aims to increase diversity in classical music and opera, both on and off stage.
Tenth Muse Initiative presents diverse performances of art music and chamber opera while creating professional opportunities which celebrate marginalised artists. Through education, consulting, and advocacy, they champion accessibility, representation, and social justice in classical music.
Their vision is to set a new standard where organisations such as TMI no longer need to exist and thus creating a more curious musical world.
In under five years they have held an award-winning Fringe show, received nominations in the Performing Arts WA Awards, commissioned new works by emerging composers and poets, and produced concerts that range from opera to intimate gatherings centred around cups of tea. All with the goal of highlighting the diversity in classical music and opera, creating a platform for new voices in WA, and designing performances which make classical music and opera engaging and welcoming.
Recent projects include:
Impact Partners for Mozart's Sister documentary and the work of Australian composer Jessica Wells, promoting their diversity pledge.
Diversity in Orchestral programming statistics plus our Women's History Month content for Women Composer Project will be in its 8th iteration this year.
Sapphic Serenade - which included all works by Sapphic Composers, including a brand new commission by WA Composer Rose Russell (This was what I was thinking of nominating as a work.)
The Priestess of Morphine- first chamber version of this opera.
Classroom poster resources for teachers promoting Australian Women Composers.
The work of Tenth Muse Initiative has been ground-breaking in the impact they making to ensure the diversity of music making in Western Australia through their practice and advocacy.
I am honoured to nominate Tenth Music Initiative for a State Luminary Award Organisation- Western Australia.
