Nominator Statement
Broadcast by ABC Jazz on April 5, and recorded live in ABC Studio 227, 'Set Sail' is the first single off Zodiac's fantastic debut record 'The Wild Wild East'.

Zodiac is Australia's only all-instrumental Jazz quartet made up entirely of people of Asian heritage.
Composing, performing and releasing music informed by the groups experience as Asian Australians, Zodiac's work is artistically and culturally significant in contributing to Australia's broad and diverse music scene.

'Set Sail' written by Chung is an optimistic portrayal of the immigrants voyage to Australia, touching on the mix of emotions and anticipations upon touching down on Australian soil.

With fantastic performances from Hinano Fujisaki (tnr), Sabine Tapia (Bs), Manson Luk (Drms) and bandleader Jordan Chung (Pno), this live recording is a fantastic example of Zodiac as individual performers and a strong quartet with a deeply developed musical chemistry.

Zodiac is a fantastic project and deserves to be commended for their artistic, compositional, performance and cultural merit.
